Interim Search Committee

With Tim Mason as the Chairmen of  this committee and after several meetings and interviews using the guidelines from Presbytery an Interim Pastor has been found. Reverend Constance Wilkerson will begin at Sweet Hollow on October 1st, 2000. This committee requires the full support from Presbytery and  we have been assisted by Elder Betsy Britton from the  Smithtown Presbyterian Church who is also a member of the Presbytery's  Committee on Ministry.

The Interim Search Committee reported to Session on September 11th that Presbytery had approved the Reverend Constance Wilkerson as the Interim Minister for our Church beginning on October 1st. The Interim Search Committee was terminated with Elder Timothy Mason given a special thanks for the dedication, time and energy he contributed in leading the committee to conduct a successful search in a short time period during an environment in which there are many churches are seeking pastors from a limited supply. Other members of the Interim Search Committee were - Robert Earthy, David Gross, Lucy Hammerle, Carol Keil, Joan Sommermeyer and William Walter.

However help is needed to get the manse in proper shape for the Interim Pastor and to make it attractive to the full time pastor candidates. There are basic needs such as a new kitchen sink, new washer and dryer, floor refinishing, and window replacements are needed by October 1st. In addition flowers, shrubs, topsoil and labor to get the grounds in good condition are also required.

Contributions of your time, specific donations as listed above and especially money would be greatly appreciated.

If you wish to donate your time or any of the items above please call the church office and speak to Joe Moder or Kathy Reiser. If you would like to donate money please send your tax-deductible contributions to the Church , Attention Joan Sommermeyer, please make a note it is for the renovation of the manse.

It is important that everyone understand that the Interim Pastor is not a candidate for the role of Pastor for the Church.  Generally the Interim Pastor will stay with the Church for approximately a year but that depends on the success of the search, it could be shorter or longer. The Interim Search Committee makes the selection for the Interim Pastor but another committee comprised of the general congregation, deacons, and elders will choose the final Pastor.
