Pastor Rebecca and Grace held a “Thank You Barbeque” at the Manse in the afternoon of Sunday, May 23rd.  The object: 1) to let everyone in the congregation know how grateful they are for the work that has been done on the house before and since their arrival and 2) to have a good time together.

The day was sunny and warm.  And the party a great success.  Over 60 people attended and a good time was had by all.  Lori (Nantista) Galen’s husband of nine months, Wayne , pitched in as our primary chef ably assisted by Larry Judd.  Ron Fischer graced the table with his famous Cucumber Tomato Salad (recipe in June’s Bell Ringer) and German Potato Salad.  Gloria Sperry brought an absolutely marvelous chocolate-chocolate cake and several others added fruit salad into the mix.  The Krams, the Schmitts and the Walters all brought extra lawn chairs so that there were enough places for all of us to sit.  We ate until about to burst and drank 9½ gallons of lemonade and 5 gallons of iced tea!  The kids alternated playing games in the cooler basement and spending time outdoors on the swingset.

As always at a Sweet Hollow party, clean-up was the least of our worries.  Thanks go especially to Barbara Schwab for taking the lead and making sure that virtually all was returned to order by the end of the day.  And thank-you all who came and made the day a great one.  We may just have to make the Manse barbeque an annual event!
