|Hello, Sweet Hollow!
Thank you for discerning a call to shared ministry. Your caring of one another and identity as a congregational family impressed me. I eagerly anticipate our time together. Let me introduce myself. I was born in Ozark, Alabama, but largely grew up in Bristol, Tennessee. Although my name is “Mary Margaret,” most people call me “Meg.” My most recent home has been in Louisville, KYwhere I served as a national staff member for the PC(U.S.A.) working on the new hymnal project. This ministry sent me into congregations and presbyteries across the United States, teaching and leading worship. I look forward to making a new home on Long Island – personally and professionally. I am especially looking forward to becoming part of your community, praying with and for you each day and week, and looking for God in our midst. I am a graduate of Furman University (Greenville, SC) and Columbia Theological Seminary (Decatur, GA). My previous congregational calls were in Dunedin, FL and Clarksville, TN. I have served in volunteer and staff positions for different ministries in the PC (U.S.A.) – from youth work to mission to worship and education. Music has always been an integral part of my life. I studied voice and piano throughout childhood and college, then worked as a professional musician (within church and secular settings). It continues to be something that I intertwine in my ordinary life and ministry. I love to sing table blessings, prayers and invitations in worship, and hymns in hospital rooms. The psalm refrain “make a joyful noise” is a constant companion in my life. When I arrive in Melville, I will be newly married to the Rev. Adam Fischer. Adam will be pastor to First Presbyterian Church in Baldwin. We are excited to begin our married life together on Long Island. It promises to be an adventure! Thanks be to God for calling us together – to you and to one another – in this time and in this place.
